Avoiding Repetitive Trading
Mistakes

Have you ever
noticed that you make the same mistakes over and over in
trading? I’m sure you’ve heard that it’s okay to make mistakes,
but it’s crazy to repeat them. By that definition; all traders
are crazy.
What is it about
trading that causes us to experience the same mistakes and the
same frustrations over and over again? By understanding the
causes of your repetitive misbehaviour, you’ll be able to see a
looming mistake before you make it; saving you cash and
unnecessary grief.
Suppressed
emotions lead to repetitive patterns
Most of us think
that we have free will. Well, we do and we don’t. We mostly
think that we are free in our choices and decisions, but our
brains are often wired to deliver certain repetitive
experiences.
When our conscious
and subconscious minds communicate effectively, our life seems
to flow effortlessly. When there are blocks in this
communication, dramas turn up as a means to clear the
blockage.
There are constant
feedback mechanisms between our conscious and subconscious
minds that aim to keep us safe and always learning. But often
we block this feedback because it is delivered as a strong
emotion. When we block or suppress this emotion, the
subconscious works to have us get the message another way; this
is where we develop repetitive patterns.
The
Trading Tribe Process (TTP)
Ed Sykota of
Market Wizards fame has developed a process for clearing the
blockages between the conscious and subconscious minds. Called
the Trading Tribe Process, it works to allow your conscious
mind to receive the messages of your subconscious. These
messages are delivered as emotion. We often try to suppress the
emotions sent to us from our subconscious, because we deem them
as too uncomfortable or at least make them mean something that
we find intolerable.
The reality is
however, that the way we learn is to experience fully the
emotions sent to us from our subconscious. They are warnings
and protective signals. It is not the emotions we need be
afraid of; it is the suppression of them that gets us into
trouble.
When the
subconscious cannot get its message across because we have
chosen to suppress it, it throws up situations or dramas which
will cause us to experience the suppressed emotion. The more we
try to suppress, the greater the drama needed to express the
emotion.
Trading the
markets gives the subconscious mind plentiful opportunities to
cause dramas.
By regularly
clearing any suppressed emotion, you are opening up the
communication channels between your conscious and subconscious
minds. This allows you to feel the flow of life and a sense of
oneness with the markets and the world.
